I started mushing about 3 years ago with Alaska Icefield Expeditions. Last winter I handled for Josi Thyr (Shelley now) up in Fairbanks and realized the glacier does NOT teach you how to drive a sled! I was so nervous for my first race (T-dog 200) that as soon as I took off, I realized I forgot my parka. Then I took a wrong turn not even 5 miles into the race, crashed my sled, then received a text from Tekla saying, “Hey! Our snow machiners think you may have taken the wrong turn.”
