Tamera Wood
Tamera is a first time ECX musher! She started mushing last year. Her Alaskan husky, Jay (originally one of Josi Thyr's pups) had a litter of puppies with a pet sibe cross and she kept them and started training them. Tamera writes, "The first time I went dog sledding with my puppies they were about 12 months old. It was a fresh snow, early in the season, and I went up on some old forestry roads to run my dogs. Well it turns out, there was a number of people up there as well, with their pet dogs, looking to harvest Christmas trees. My pups took off after one of the dogs and tipped the sled, I got my leg caught in the claw brake and got dragged for a while. Eventually I got myself free and the dogs kept dragging the sled down the road without me. I ended up having to run down the road after them, waving to dumb founded people as I ran by. It was a good introduction to dog sledding for me."
